Hummus Recipe

Classic Hummus

Hummus is an appetizer from heaven that is made from chickpeas.  It will impress your guests and please family members either as a fascinating dip or a savory sandwich spread. Hummus is also rich in iron and vitamin C as well as in proteins (and in this recipe with tahini-sesame paste).

Below is the classic hummus recipe. There are several others with different spices or ingredients such as cumin or dried tomatoes.


500 gr (16 oz) can of boiled chickpeas

1/4 cup liquid from can of chickpeas

Juice of 1 lemon

1 1/2 tablespoons tahini

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons olive oil

Preparation Method:

Place chickpeas in food processor. Blend till you obtain a ground mixture. Then add tahini and blend a minute more. Finally add the rest of the ingredients gradually and continue blending well until a smooth creamy texture is achieved.

Serve immediately with any choice of bread or chips. Or use as a sandwich spread.
